KMOU Office of International Affairs Engages in Global Maritime Talent Recruitment in Thailand
The Office of International Affairs (Director: Kim Jeong-hoon) actively promoted the excellence of Korea Maritime & Ocean University (KMOU) by meeting with prospective global maritime talents in Thailand.
Following its participation in the 2025 Korea Study Abroad Fair in Thailand held on July 13?14 at Hotel Nikko Bangkok, the Office also organized a visiting study abroad briefing session on July 15. During the session, the team visited key educational institutions in Thailand to directly engage with local students.
Hosted by the National Institute for International Education (NIIED) and co-organized by the Korean Education Center in Thailand, the study abroad fair welcomed 35 Korean universities and attracted 932 visitors―including Thai students, parents, high school teachers, and education officials―demonstrating strong interest in studying in Korea.
The visiting study abroad briefing session drew enthusiastic participation from 320 high school and university students.
At its booth during the fair, KMOU’s Office of International Affairs introduced programs such as Korean language courses, undergraduate and graduate admissions information, and scholarship opportunities.
Particularly impactful were videos featuring a current Thai student at KMOU and a foreign master's student sharing their experiences on campus, offering prospective students a vivid and relatable glimpse into university life.
Director Kim Jeong-hoon stated, “This visit to Thailand served as an opportunity to enhance the brand value of KMOU,” adding, “We will continue to attract outstanding talents from around the world to solidify our position as a global leader in maritime education.” He further emphasized the university’s commitment to increasing international trust by expanding student-centered, customized education, scholarship programs, and support systems for international students.
Following this event, KMOU plans to accelerate efforts in building a global campus. The Office of International Affairs is preparing for the university’s transformation into a globally connected maritime-focused institution by strengthening overseas promotional activities and expanding global partnerships.
