On July 22, Korea Maritime & Ocean University (KMOU) hosted the “2025 Ho Chi Minh City Education Officials and Student Delegation Invitation Event.”
This event was part of the “2025 Ho Chi Minh City Education Officials and Student Invitation Program to Busan,” organized by the Busan Global City Foundation. It was held for university officials and prospective students from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Previously, in November 2024, KMOU visited both the University of Economics and Finance (UEF) and Ho Chi Minh City Open University. The current event served as a follow-up to those visits, aiming not just to promote study abroad opportunities but to deepen mutual exchange and build sustainable partnerships.
The visiting delegation consisted of 16 members in total―6 university officials and 10 prospective students selected from the two Vietnamese universities.
From UEF, the delegation included:
Vice President Nhan Cam Tri
Associate Dean of Korean Language Pham Thi Thuy Linh
Administrative Officer Nguyen Ngoc Khanh Linh
From Ho Chi Minh City Open University, attendees included:
Korean Language Lecturers Vu Thi Thuan, Trinh Thi Hanh, and Truong Thi Thoa
Each university also brought five prospective students, who had the opportunity to experience KMOU’s academic and campus environment firsthand.
The event started at 10:00 AM and featured a variety of programs:
University introduction and admissions briefing
Courtesy meeting with the university president and official roundtable discussions
Meeting with current Vietnamese students at KMOU
Guided tours of key educational facilities, including the training ship Hanbada and the newly constructed university library
A key highlight of the day was a video presentation on KMOU’s support policies for international students, followed by a Q&A session with current Vietnamese students. This gave the visitors concrete insight into life at KMOU and helped answer their questions about studying abroad.
The delegation also toured educational infrastructure like the training ship and library, which deepened their understanding of―and interest in―studying in Busan.
This visit served not only to strengthen substantive exchanges with local Vietnamese universities but also to explore future collaboration opportunities in attracting outstanding international students, developing joint academic programs, and conducting collaborative research.
President Ryu Dong-geun of KMOU stated,
“As a globally focused maritime university, KMOU continuously expands exchanges with prestigious institutions worldwide. The invitation of this delegation from Ho Chi Minh City universities marks an important first step toward building meaningful collaboration. We will actively support continuous cooperation and exchange between our institutions.”
