Office of International Affairs Engages in Global Talent Recruitment at the “Vietnam Study in Korea Fair” The Office of International Affairs (Director: Kim Jeong-hoon) participated in the 2025 Vietnam (Hanoi) Study in Korea Fair held from July 26 to 27 in Hanoi, Vietnam. Through promotional activities aimed at attracting international students, the office showcased the excellence of Korea Maritime & Ocean University (KMOU) and connected with future global maritime talents. The fair was co-hosted by the National Institute for International Education (NIIED) and the Korean Education Center in Hanoi, with 73 Korean universities participating both online and offline. Over the two days, the event attracted approximately 12,000 visitors, including Vietnamese students, parents, local universities, and study-abroad agencies, making it a great success. The Office of International Affairs, in connection with the RISE project, operated a promotional booth introducing Korean language training courses, undergraduate and graduate admission information, as well as scholarship opportunities, all of which garnered high interest from prospective students. In particular, a promotional video produced by KMOU’s current international students vividly conveyed campus life and received an enthusiastic response from future applicants. Officials Lee Kyung-hwan and Park Hyun-ji, who took part in the event, noted, “The passion and interest of Vietnamese students and parents in studying in Korea and in KMOU’s specialized curriculum for the global maritime field were very impressive.” Director Kim Jeong-hoon stated, “Participation in the Vietnam Study in Korea Fair reaffirmed our position as a competitive, maritime-specialized university. We will continue to attract global talents from around the world and grow as a hub of global maritime-specialized education. KMOU will also spare no effort in developing diverse international exchange programs and creating a supportive learning environment for international students.” Moving forward, the Office of International Affairs plans to actively promote KMOU’s excellence in global maritime-specialized education and strengthen international student recruitment efforts. The university will continue to advance toward becoming a “glocal university” by leveraging both domestic and global maritime networks. Meanwhile, KMOU was recently selected as a preliminary designee for the Ministry of Education’s “Glocal University 30” initiative, proving its innovation capacity and growth potential. This key government-funded project aims to foster globally competitive, specialized universities that drive co-prosperity between regions and higher education institutions. Through this, KMOU plans to further advance its specialization strategies in the maritime and fisheries sector.
