KMOU President Park Han-il was invited to the ‘18th China-Qingdao Blue Economy International Professionals and Industry-Academia-Research Cooperation Conference’held in Qingdao, China from 23rd-24th October last month as an expert in marine education, participating in discussion of international top experts and giving keynote speech.

On the 23rd, Mr. Park participated as a panelist at the discussion of international top experts, on the theme of 'the Construction of Marine Silk Road and Related Opportunities and Challenges of Marine City Development'. Mr. Park emphasized that the Marine Silk Road will be a stage for cultural exchange which transcends borderlines, and a space to create a new global order through conversation, cooperation and coexistence. He pointed out that joint efforts and cooperation of the coastal nations involved is paramount for its success. He also stressed the need to perceive maritime security and border conflicts as issues that could be resolved peacefully.

On the 24th, Mr. Park gave a keynote speech at the International Education Cooperation Forum, on the theme of ‘Leaders in Industry-University Cooperation (LINC) Project of Korea’. He introduced the project and examples of industry-university cooperation of the KMOU. In particular, Mr. Park introduced the KMOU’s unparalleled and unique marine personnel training course, know-how to support domestic and foreign companies, and plans to secure a new growth engine for the marine industry in connection with the 4th Industrial Revolution.

Prior to the conference, Mr. Park visited Ocean University of China(OUC), a sister university of KMOU, on October 22nd. He discussed with Chinese key officials including the OUC President Yu Zhigang, on plans to enhance the international academic exchange between the two countries.
