Korea Maritime and Ocean University(KMOU) hosted the opening ceremony at Busan International Finance Center (BIFC) at 3 pm on Aug. 30, 2018 to mark the coming official opening on September 1, 2018 of the Graduate School of Finance in partnership with Busan National University.

KMOU and Busan National University will receive a total of KRW 8 billion in financial support from the Financial Services Commission and Busan Metropolitan City by 2020 to operate the Graduate School of Maritime Finance and the Graduate School of Derivatives Finance which are aimed to nurture experts specialized in maritime finance and derivatives finance to drive Busan as a financial hub. The curriculum is a three-semester full-time course for master's degree.

The Graduate School of Maritime Finance of KMOU provides its students with opportunities to attend Athens University of Economics and Business in Greece in early January 2019 after they finish the semester from September to December this year. At there, they will take courses related to maritime finance and maritime business. Studying at the Athenian university, students will take not only classroom lectures but also field trips to Greek shipping companies and practical knowledge from Greek maritime finance experts.

"We hope that our students will learn the know-how and practice of the shipping powerhouse through lectures and on-site training with domestic and global renowned financial scholars and contribute to the development of Korea's shipping industry in the future," said Lee Ki-hwan, president of the Graduate School of Maritime Finance.
