Co-organized by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF), the Northeast Asia Maritime Transportation Logistics Research Center (Director General: Nam Gi-chan) of Korea Maritime and Ocean University (KMOU) is holding the 2016 MOF-KMOU Port Expert Workshop from November 27 to December 3. The workshop is for high-ranking officials working in the port-related field from three countries—El Salvador, Papua New Guinea and Sri Lanka.
It actually started with a welcoming ceremony and an orientation in the university administration building on November 28. The Port Expert Workshop is prepared to teach the Korea’s advanced port and logistics systems, and provide know-hows on developing and operating ports. It also aims to establish a cooperative friendship with the three countries and strengthen exchange activities for companies in the three and Korea through networking.
With 12 high-ranking officials from the three countries including Dr. Clement Waine, Vice Minister for the Department of Public Enterprise in Papua New Guinea, the workshop is scheduled to include lectures for theories related to ports, workshops for a right direction towards port development, and site visits to Busan Port Authority, Pusan Newport Company, Ulsan Port Authority and Ulsan Newport Container Terminal.
Prof. Kim Hwan-seong in charge of the workshop said, “It will be an important opportunity for us to strengthen a sustainable partnership with the three nations by introducing our advanced ports and teaching our accumulated experiences and policies."
